Supplements
"First of all, I believe that through proper nutrition, athletes should be able to provide their bodies with the nutrients necessary for healthy training and development. Supplements may offer some short term benefits but the scary part is that no one knows what long term effects taking these may have on your body. What I can tell you for certain is that as a first class program, our philosophy at Penn State is that there are no short cuts to success: Hard work is the key and the only route we choose to take. In following with this philosophy and because of the unknown long term effects of using supplements, we strongly discourage our athletes from using any form of these products and refuse to make these available to our athletes."
John Thomas, Strength Coach, Penn State University
Minnetonka Position Statement regarding Supplements
The Minnetonka Strength and Conditioning Staff strongly discourages the use of all dietary supplements because of the potential for negative side effects, the danger associated with lack of supplement industry regulation, and the lack of scientific evidence to support their effectiveness.
