Football Safety at Minnetonka

With increased scrutiny for football upon us more and more every day, some parents may be concerned with the prospect of their son playing the great sport of football. The Minnetonka Football Program takes safety seriously. As a matter of fact, football players are safer than ever because of the quality of protective equipment, modified rules, player and coach safety training, and controlled practices.

THE FOOTBALL DECISION

America is obsessed with football! What's a parent to do when their son wants to play football? Watch this presentation by Dr. Uzma Samadani, Neurosurgeon HCMC and MN VA Medical Center and Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at University of Minnesota, Rockswold Kaplan Endowed Chair for Traumatic Brain Injury Research at MCMC. She authored "The Football Decision: An Exploration Into Every Parent's Decision Whether Or Not To Let A Child Play Contact Sports".

TOP OF THE LINE EQUIPMENT

Riddell Speedflex Helmets

Our Player's well being is our #1 priority.  To ensure that our players wear the best equipment possible, 36 Speedflex Helmets have been purchased for the 2016 season;  this helmet is the premier helmet in football and is Riddell's top rated 5 star helmet!

Players have the option of wearing this helmet if they choose to contribute $100 toward the cost of the helmet ($316);  the one-time cost allows players to wear a Speedflex helmet throughout their MHS career.  The helmet will remain the property of Minnetonka Football upon the player's graduation.

Please contact Coach Esch if you are interested in securing a Speedflex helmet.
